Bacon Flavoring

A great way to flavor thinly sliced lentil tofu for that perfect veggie BLT. In the photos below we used lentil tofu but you can try the same marinade with well drained firm tofu, coconut flakes or strips of rice paper.

  1. Thinly slice your lentil tofu (or regular tofu or rice paper strips) and arrange in a single layer on a baking sheet.

  2. Next put all remaining ingredients into a small bowl and mix well.

*if you’re trying rice paper bacon, mix ingredients in a flat tray and soak the strips until they are a little soft, layer two strips, one on top of the other, then cook in the toaster oven until crisp (they burn easily to keep an eye on them).

  3. Brush liberally with sauce and then bake at 180℃ for 15 minutes. Carefully flip over, baste again with the sauce and bake for a further 15 minutes.

  4. You can use your bacon as it is, or you can the fry in a little olive oil for crispy edges if you prefer. You can also cool the bacon at this stage and fry the following day for a quick and easy meal.
